Long Mizzle Garden

 Hello m' soggy bottoms,   Long time no gossip! I have some rather exciting news to reveal ... After two years on the waiting list, I am now proud custodian of a beautiful allotment plot. I received a very exciting email in the last week of March asking if I was still interested in one. Of course the answer was an excited YES and I was offered the opportunity to check out three different plots. After my Sunday morning sea swim, I arrived looking salty & bedraggled to meet with the lady who manages the old farmer's field on behalf of her father-in-law. Turns out it is the same gorgeous lady that runs my favourite local charity shop. Initially I thought I'd go for a half-plot. (In the UK, allotments are classed as either full-plot, half-plot, or sometimes even quarter-plot). That was until I saw the full plot on offer, with beautiful established apple trees, gooseberries, raspberries, currant bushes and rhubarb galore.  Hello m' cherubs, The seed sowing season is upon us. Much like my coordinated washing, I like to sow in themes of colour. Please don't be fooled into thinking I do all the garden jobs by myself. It is important to delegate. I've actually been actively training up the littlest one. Hopefully I'll be able to get some extra feet up time, with an endless supply of hot tea. The biggest one is currently chief tea making apprentice.  That's all for today folks. The sofa, granny blanket and a good book are calling. Please send gossip via courier pigeon.  Al'reet m' chiefs,   Of course the title's a play on a line in the 1975 film Jaws - 'We're gonna need a bigger boat'. Before I get onto pots, I'd like to share a little outing, and perhaps some boats... It's been an action packed week off and now I'm feeling like I need extra time to recover! One highlight was going over to the north coast with the kiddiwinkles and ancient ones.   The Fern Pit Cafe on the edge of Newquay, overlooks the River Gannel and Crantock beach. If I ever I think Long Mizzle's split levels are challenging, I think of the heavenly steep cliff side garden that tumbles down from the cafe to the boathouse and footbridge below.  Hello m' fabulous flippers, Joy of joys, the car boot sales are back on. The spring blossom is blooming. It's a long bank holiday weekend - meaning lots of time to catch up on garden jobs and tea drinking. Just a short bloggymacjig today. If my old Geography teacher is reading - yes I can zip it - but no, one can never run out of things to natter about...one simply saves them for another day!   One of the weirdest things I have ever spotted at a car boot sale -    Of course it was just asking for a certain je ne sais quoi -  I always wanted to be Daryl Hannah in Splash, with 80s crimped hair and my very own Tom Hanks. Turns out the lovely lass selling this was a real life mermaid - she makes the tails herself and swims in the sea or giant fish tanks with them. She said 'mermaid abs' are a thing!
