A garage or shed of your own?

Image
Hello m' mid Mayers, Just a quickie from me today.... How people choose to spend their free time always fascinates me. I think that's why I enjoy reading blogs so much - they are full of personal passion and interest. This month I  discovered one work colleague used to head a 'supernatural investigation club' - he has some hilarious and hair raising stories (more on that some other time).  Another colleague has converted the lower part of his garage into a blacksmith's forge, where he makes weaponry for his cosplay weekends. It gets better - the upper part of his garage looks like a medieval tavern. This is where he and his beardy friends gather under flickering candles to drink mead, eat stew from wooden bowls and play the Dungeons and Dragon's board game! It is said that the UK is a nation of gardeners. I suppose we have a good amount of rainfall and enough sun to make it a plausible pursuit. But what to do when the snow endlessly falls? Last week, I stumble...

Hello m' ice pops, I'm still meant to be revising, so this is officially a naughty post! But what's that Jack Nicholson line from The Shining? - 'All work and no play makes Jack a Dull Boy' . Topiary and typewriter aside, I have made a nice coffee and have a few pictures to share if you'd like to join me... She went through a ceramics craze in the late 80s. Just looking at it brings back happy memories, sitting...

Hello from a chilly Long Mizzle, Brrrrrr, please come through for a virtual cuppa in the garden. We have tea, coffee, herbal or hot chocolate? ... The traffic at the bottom of the road has finally settled down and the frosty nights leave the pink River Lilies sugar coated. As the day progresses and the sun lazily stretches out, the crisp ground softens, sending quick ascending vapour over the old town and tidal river. This week I've been sowing chillies and, shock horror... bird watching ( I never ever thought I'd say that!) amongst other things. I had to dig out my 'Pat Butcher' fake leopard fur coat. I just need the big earrings and fag hanging out my mouth now. In the vintage orange vase: dried Agapanthus flower heads. The sticks, jars and green orbs keep the cats' furry bottoms off the vege beds. Frosty River Lilies (Hesperantha coccinea) - The Camellia at the top end of the garden won't be too happy about the frost but it'll survive (if this particular ...
