Just talking to pots, that's all

Image
Hello m' misty pots,   It has been a peculiar week. One night the cold sea mist silently crept in. By morning, the church tower stood steady, silhouetted. Beyond the unseeing tree line, the outside world ceased to exist. A thick white veil, a sleepwalking bride..the garden was all that was. Then there was the dreaded Track and Trace phone ping 'you need to self-isolate', and the follow up phone call "you do not need to self-isolate", much confusion and a set of negative PCR tests. The mist started to clear. Phew!   Pots are simple. They make sense. They are great to talk to whilst drinking morning coffee and dunking biscuits.    You would not believe the things a pot will tell you at 11pm at night, after a douse of bathwater. Their language is plain filthy! Achillea 'Cerise Queen' and Cornflower 'Black Ball' (Centaurea cyanus)     The shallowest part of the pit (old pond). Only sea thrift seem to thrive here. Cuppa tour - Soggy July morning

Image
Hello m' soggy bottoms, I've been up since 'arse o'crack' this morning, walking round the soggy garden. If you have a hot cuppa, you are most welcome to join me. I filmed a short video whilst the mad house was still soundly sleeping. That's why I am whispering.... I didn't want to wake them! It is important to grab little snippets of peace when you can.  Next time I will endeavour to achieve a better sound quality. But as Monsieur often says, there's not point going in full pelt like Michael Bolton in 'When a Man Loves a Woman'... as there's no where you can go from there. Above: Dill Mammoth Below: Fennel   The succulents won't be liking all this rain but they do look pretty with big rain drops on them...       Above: Echivera in flower   At this time of the year in and around Falmouth, the lovely sweaty students are on the move and lots of 'free' boxes full of kitchen utensils and vessels can be found on the streets. Here's...

A little hello video from Long Mizzle

Image
Hello m' sunnies, Well I wasn't going to do a post this week, but the weekends don't quite feel right without a little blogging. So here's my first venture in to making a wee garden video: one take - no posh kit, retakes or editing allowed. That eats into revision time, plus more importantly, tea drinking and biscuit dunking time. I just wanted to show you the Sweet Williams, 'Crystal Lemon' cucumbers and Dahlia bed.   I meant to say in the video that the little pot was for collecting white beach pebbles tangled up in the seaweed. Also that 'Love Lies Bleeding' (Amaranthus caudatus) is an annual flower, adored by some florists and it has velvety, deep red, long tasseled flowers, hence its very dramatic name.               Above: 'Love Lies Bleeding' and Tagetes being planted out     Above: Frida's  Dahlia bed    Below: 'Hadrian's Midnight'   In between bashing my daft bonce with revision notes and pacing round the ...
