Hello and welcome to Long Mizzle
Hello and welcome to Long Mizzle,

[Pink cosmos, cannas, blue agapanthus]
Well, my mam just loved how the name co-incidentally sounded like Monty Don's
'Long Meadow' ...because, you know, I hadn't thought of that name play at all,
being a massive Gardener's World fan!!! ;) For those not familiar with the word
'mizzle' - it is a lovely light rain phenomenon found in Cornwall, a bit like
northern 'spitting' in that sparks many passing conversations, but causes
little real disruption, unless maybe you are a dinner lady.

Unknown to me, my mam & dad decided to make me a proper 'Long Mizzle' wooden sign. This they presented to me on my birthday in July, and so the garden officially acquired its name. I can honestly say it is the best birthday present I've ever received.
[ 'Scentimental' rose - heavenly smell ]Our garden has always meant a lot to me, but during lockdown it has provided
us with everything we've needed: food, company (in the form of wildlife, cats & neighbours), an emotional sponge, and most importantly, a safe place to exercise and for the children to play. As long as plants are
growing, with jobs to be done and tea to be drunk, things feel good, even if the world is not quite right at the moment.

[ Echium pininana (waiting for the towering flower spike!), trailing blue Geranium 'Rozanne']
Here follows my blog of mostly garden related musings. If you know me, you'll know I also have a
penchant for carboot sales, vintage dresses, tea parties, picnic adventures, art &
crafting, history, music and engineering. You are most welcome to stop by for a virtual cuppa.
