One week to go

 Hello m' luverlies,

Well it has been a hive of activity here at Long Mizzle this weekend.  I popped to town yesterday morning to put in our Falmouth Spring Flower show entry forms at the library. There's no turning back now! This year I have entered four classes, with the kids entering a category each too.

In the afternoon, I made the most of the sunshine and cleared all the nettles and brambles by the playhouse. In the evening, I collapsed with a bedtime cuppa and some brilliant post-apocalyptic TV viewing - 'The Last of Us'.

Protozoa under microscope

If you thought Cordyceps (mind controlling fungus) were terrifying, take a look at what I had to step over at recently in one of the labs I help service...

Protozoa - half animal, half plant.

They are able to photosynthesize!!!

I fear I may be infected.

Of course it is mothers' day today, but there's no rest for the wicked. I managed to pop the washing out on the line, scrub the bathroom & kitchen, do a supermarket shop, and hastily edit a YouTubey video all before 11:00. The bouquet above is made from Long Mizzle flowers and was dropped off to Mumrah the Great at midday.

Here's my 'popping to Falmouth town' video -

That's all for today. I hope that you are keeping well. I hope to see some of you over on your blogs very soon.

Lulu xXx

Thank you for the tour of Falmouth library. How fascinating are those automata, and the Kurt Jackson painting is absolutely stunning!
I'll bet Mumrah was well pleased with her gorgeous bouquet.
Funnily enough, it was Father's Day today in Belgium. Not joking, honest! xxx

    1. How funny that it's Belgium's Father's Day on UK Mothers Day. Monsieur's birthday is too close to Mothers' day & he always accuses me of stealing his thunder. Then Fathers' Day is too close to my birthday! Thanks Ann xXx

    1. Hey babs, thank you Vix :) We can partially thank Philanthropist John Passmore Edwards for Falmouth's beautiful library, plus many other libraries across Cornwall. They have been celebrating his birthday on the local news this week. You must have been paying attention in Biology! xXx

love the video!! you look cute with the headscarf, you gorgeous succulents grow back (i heard a light frost as in cornwall can kept out of a greenhouse by burnining 1-2 grave candles placed on the floor..), the library is a welcoming place for big and small people - fabulous automats! and even more fabulous art! and your camellias and forgetmenots are just lovely.....
wish you luck and huge success at the flower show!!

    1. Thanks for watching & the good luck Beate :) Good tip on the candles, but as the daughter of a fireman I was brought up to put out flames before bedtime :0! ;) We're very lucky having such a lovely library. The library & gallery staff are wonderful too xXx

  7. Good luck at the show Lulu. That library is very impressive, so much to see & do. The Automata display looked amazing and reminded me of a similar exhibition at Cleethorpes many years ago. That one was by a company called "Shamanka Circus".
You have a great succulent collection, I've grown a few house leeks but that's about all.
New green showing in our hedge rows now so Spring is almost here, I would like to bet your hedge rows are well on the way now, take care. David.

    1. Hello David, I've just looked up Shamanka Circus & it lead me to sculptors Eduard Bersudsky & Tatyana Jacovskaya..... aren't they absolutely wonderful!!! The hedges are hotels for the birdies & already out of bounds. Thanks for the good luck. Fingers & toes are crossed :) xXx
