Lost Pudding Pit & other winners

 Hello m' stray pickles,

Firstly, thank you so much for all the good luck messages last week! It was very sweet of you. Monsieur calls it my 'most favourite day of the year' - The Falmouth Spring Flower Show. Although technically it is on all weekend.

The transportation was the greatest challenge this year as the weather had decided to blow a gale on the Friday hand in. As I opened the boot of the car, the paper flowers on my youngest kid's exhibit took wild flight across the car park. A frantic chase ensued, my green mac whipping me in the face.

Even before this, I'd managed to break my constructed floral headpiece the night before. Luckily Gorilla glue came to the rescue. To top it off I spectacularly toppled a pot in the car, in spite of granny driving at a steady 20 mph. An emergency in-boot re-pot was required!

Goodness knows how Tremough Gardens transported this tall cactus -

Oh but how wonderful the show was when it opened on Saturday!

***Let's cut to the chase and give a run down of our winning entries - ***

Petite Floral - 'A delicate Tiara Class' - 1st Prize!

Seeing as I was the only entrant in this category, I was sort of guaranteed a prize, but take a look at the Judge's lovely comment -

An exquisite intricate design of woven tiny white flowers, forest green leaves and mosses. Absolutely delightful, just fit for a woodland fairy princess. Well done.

Please see the end for better quality pictures.

Bowl / miniature succulent garden class - 2nd Prize

Children's Spring themed Recycled Art Class (age 7-8) - 3rd Prize

Children's Spring themed Recycled Art Class (age 9-11) - 3rd Prize

Other categories we entered but missed out on  (you can't have it all can ye!) -

Class: Camellias floating in bowl (more like sinking Camellias in our case, top right)

Class: 4 pots of succulents

Class:  Crassulaceae, 1 pot (bottom right - annoyingly not quite in flower, despite the promising buds)

I'll leave you with some better pictures taken at home.

I just need Claire from Winter Peach Photography to incorporate the tiara into one of her moody, magical woodland shoots!

Thank you for visiting. Please do say hello.

My blogger friends may have noticed my absence, but rest assured, with the show now over with, I will be doing the royal rounds.

You and your family did well with your entries, very well done. Your 1st place may have been a lone entry but who's to says it wouldn't have won anyway? To quote Mr. Grace from "Are you being served" you all did very well!
I enjoyed your video at the end, you do make them well.

  7. Such a fun post, I'm actually going to do some transplanting of veggies today, and hopefully we can clear the kitchen this weekend and put everything into the greenhouse. Lovely bits and pieces at the flower show---I hope we have a break in Chicagoland weather, nothing green quite wants to show their faces yet. Sandi

Thank you very much for the bandstand footage and for the shout out. I know you would do me proud if you were closer and I ever needed a tiara. The shape you created with those twigs is exquisite!
The cauliflower poodle and those daffs are incredible and the cacti display reminds me of Gareth's window ledge when I first met him.
It sounds like you had a blast! xxx

    1. Thank you Claire :) Originally the tiara had more 'antlers' but it broke so I had to re-construct & simplify it. It is such a shame we don't live closer. Imagine all the woodland weirdness we'd get up to! xXx

  11. having a lot of issues with blogger including leaving comments - 3rd attempt! Your crown was a deserving winner, no wonder it was the only entrant, it's such a difficult thing to make - you have excelled - it's so.... wood fairy....in fact I need one.... I would wear it and I love it. I like cauliflower poodle but I bet he stinks. I so want to get out and do gardening and it's so not happening, I planted potatoes on t'allotment on Monday and I suspect they are now sitting in their very own individual moats.
